Every single human culture has always had women-only spaces. Until right now here in Western patriarchy.
Some of us don’t know what we’re losing because we’ve never had it. Some of us don’t value it because we’ve been socialized to centre only around men. Some of us are hostile to it because we are afraid to discover our own magic and what we’ve been missing.
I encourage us to dare to explore this and to discover.
I’m not primarily talking about male-created formats like conferences, or sequestration, or prisons. By women-only space I mean spaces by and for women, not manifesting in response to men or even patriarchy but springing up as part of a natural way to be.
Its more important now than ever to find our strength and our connections, as women.
Some things I have experienced in a special way in women-only space:
feeling the lake of tears in my chest
hope for the future
soaring energy
relaxation and a moment of safety
unspoken communication
surprise of constant kindness
It’s worth reflecting on how we can have more of that, and how we can be the connectors of the human race to the earth and to each other.
